In a celebration of both music and images, the Houston Symphony presents the The Planets - An HD Odyssey.

‘The Planets - An HD Odyssey’ App beautifully marries images returned from planetary spacecraft with Holst’s music, to provide a mesmerizing spectacle on your tablet or phone.

Gustav Holst’s score ‘The Planets’ is arguably one of the best-loved classical pieces by a British composer, and one which continues to enjoy considerable exposure today.

The Houston Symphony commissioned a high definition visual presentation to accompany the live performance of ‘The Planets’. This was produced and directed by celebrated filmmaker Duncan Copp.

Selected elements of the music and images from the original Blu-ray & DVD have now been reinterpreted and combined with additional content and cutting edge technology to give you the experience as an App for enjoyment on your mobile device.

The App includes:
- Rich Media Video Content for the main feature

- In-depth Making of Audio Commentaries with contributions from Music Director Hans Graf & Producer/Director Duncan Copp

- Fully interactive touch screen menus

- The Planets Photo Gallery - showcasing images of each planet

- Audio Commentaries from NASA Planetary scientists discussing the science behind the Planets in our Solar System

- Additional text content with insights into the original SFX, combining the music with images and the history and biographies of those involved
- An opportunity to instantly connect with Houston Symphony via social media & blog links
